NFL Divisional Round Predictions

Bring back Bradying.

Now that the Patriots and Saints have been sent home early, the NFL playoffs have became immensely more interesting. With NFL legends Drew Brees and Tom Brady not getting it done this year, it seems that the tides may be shifting towards the younger generation of QBs. While Aaron Rodgers and Russel Wilson could still hold it down for the old heads. I am more excited to see the emerging stars like Lamar Jackson and Pat Mahomes. Either way, I am looking forward to seeing how this will all play out.

49ers vs Vinkings

I think that the ground game will be a huge factor in this match-up. I also think that Dalvin Cook is clearly the best RB in this game, but both of these teams have deep and productive backfields. The ground game will be important because both of these QBs rely heavily on play action and deception. However, I think that the San Francisco defense will be the reason that 49ers take this game at home. 24-17 49ers.

Titans vs Ravens

Nothing made me happier than seeing Derick Henry single-handily take down the Pats in Foxborough. However, I think we all knew that this wasn’t the same Patriots team we were used to seeing play in the postseason. While Lamar Jackson’s Ravens have been the best team in the NFL, and I don’t think that Ryan Tannehill is going to be the guy that stops them. 30-17 Ravens.

Texans vs Chiefs

I think that these are the QBs of the future, and both Mahomes and Watson will finish with a couple of super bowl rings before it is all said and done. This makes this one of the toughest match-ups to call. Even with JJ Watt back for Houston, I don’t think that the Texans defense is going to be able to handle the speed of the Kansas city offense. 28-17 Chiefs

Seahawks vs Packers

This is a classic match-up featuring two future Hall-of-fame QBs. Russel Wilson is the ultimate competitor, but the Seahawks have looked disapointing this year. I think that their injuries in the backfield have ruined this season. I don’t believe that they can take down Aaron Rodgers in lambeau. 28-14 Packers

Tell me why I am wrong in the comments.

CFB Playoff Predictions Rd-1

This wasn’t from this year, but it still warms the soul.

This will be the first year of the College Football Playoffs without the Crimson Tide, and I can confidently say that the other 49 states in the US couldn’t be happier about it. Unfortunately, Ohio State and Clemson will once again be in attendance. Oklahoma is a another familiar face to the CFB playoffs, but they face the number 1 ranked LSU Tigers in the first game. Which probably means that the Sooners are going home empty-handed…again.

LSU vs OU

I personally love Jalen Hurts. He brought Alabama to a National Championship just to lose his job to a freshman. Hurts then transferred to Oklahoma and led them to the playoffs while staying in Heisman contention for most of the year. However, Joe Burrow (the actual Heisman winner) and the LSU Tigers are by-far the better team. LSU has played some of the best competition in the country and they have yet to disappoint. Also LSU coach Ed Orgeron could be the most entertaining man in sports. He’s pretty much a cartoon version of what you think an LSU coach should be. LSU by 90.

If you haven’t heard Coach Orgeron speak, this is a pretty accurate depiction.

CU vs OSU

This is the most intriguing match-up. Both of these teams have been CFB powerhouses for nearly a decade, so naturally I despise both of these teams. This game presents a great QB match-up between Trevor Lawernce and Justin Fields. I also have to mention the potential number 1 draft pick Chase Young for Ohio State. However, I have lived in South Carolina for ten years now and I have finally learned not to bet against Clemson.

I think we are going to see a Tigers vs Tigers National Championship.

Go tigers.

Sun Devils Knock Off 6th Ranked Oregon.

The Oregon Ducks started off this year with CFB Playoff hopes, but the 5-5 Arizona State Sun Devils crushed those playoff dreams last night in a 31-28 victory over the Ducks. The Sun Devils came into this game with a 4-game losing streak, So this should have been an easy win for the Ducks.

Oregon was led by Senior QB Justin Herbert. Herbert has started all four years for the Ducks, and some analysts believe that he could be a top five pick in the 2020 NFL draft. While the Sun Devils were led by true-freshman QB, Jayden Daniels. Surprisingly, Daniels proved to be the better QB in this game with 3 TDs and no turnovers.

In 2018, The Sun Devils named NFL legend, Herm Edwards, the head coach of their football team. Edwards played and coached in the NFL, and spent 8 years as a football analyst for ESPN. This was undoubtedly his most notable win as the Sun Devil coach, and a great way to turn-around a disappointing PAC-12 season.

QOTD: Does this lose hurt Herbert’s draft stock? Will Jayden Daniels be a top five CFB QB next year?

Arkansas Basketball Continues to Look Strong.

The Razorbacks defeated South Dakota 77-56 yesterday at Bud Walton Arena. SMU transfer Jimmy Whitt Jr. led Arkansas scoring with 24 points and 7 boards to go with it. Coach Musselman’s squad has been playing great defensively. The hogs have yet to give up more than 60 points in a game this season.

While Arkansas basketball has looked good starting off this season, their first tough game is coming Monday. Georgia Tech will host the Razorbacks at 5:00pm on ACC network. Georgia Tech belongs to a strong basketball conference and has already faced notable opponents this year. The Yellow Jackets lost by 1 to NC State in a thrilling season-opener, and they are coming off of a tough loss to their rival Georgia.

That being said, I expect the Hogs to handle business this Monday.

QOTD; Will the Hogs take care of the Yellow Jackets?

Myrtle Beach Invitational 2019

This year’s Myrtle Beach Invitational Features some great teams from across the Country. Including the 17th ranked Villanova Wildcats and the 24th ranked Baylor Bears. The tournament takes place at Coastal Carolina’s HTC Center. Luckily for me, the first 100 Coastal Carolina students got in for free. So I got to spend my day court-side watching some quality college hoops.

The tournament kicked off yesterday with Villanova taking on Middle Tennessee. Jay Wright’s Villanova Wildcats looked strong in their opening round performance putting away Middle Tennessee 98-69. The next game featured Mississippi State and Tulane University. Mississippi State handled the Green Wave 80-66 setting up an interesting Match-up against Villanova in the next round.

The bottom half of the eight team bracket was headlined with Scott Drew’s Baylor Bears against the Ohio Wildcats. The game ended up with Baylor Defeating Ohio 76-53, but the game was a lot more competitive than the score led on.

The final Game was reserved for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers taking on a strong Utah Offense. Coastal went into the game as 4 point underdogs, but the defense of the Chanticleers held Utah to just 57 in their dominate 79-57 win. Coastal guard Keishawn Brewton led their offense with 22 points while going 6/9 from beyond the arch.

The next round of the champions bracket will feature Villanova vs. Mississippi State and Coastal taking on Baylor. The Tournament continues today on ESPN2 and ESPNU.

Can the Hornets Make a Playoff Push Without Kemba?

Unfortunately, I have been a Hornets fan for a while now. And for as long as I can remember, this was Kemba’s team. Kemba Walker was drafted 9th overall by the hornets after an incredible year at UConn. He led the Huskies to a national championship and was named tournament MVP. Then he came to Charlotte…

While I do believe that Kemba was a great player and a strong leader, he didn’t receive much help during his time with the Hornets. Since Kemba was drafted, the hornets have struggled in the draft and in free agency to surround him with talent. However, this off-season Kemba signed with a much more competitive Boston Celtics team. We always knew that Walker’s talent was being overlooked on our struggling squad, so we wish Kemba the best in Boston.

So without a clear cut team leader, Hornets fans weren’t expecting much. However, the Hornets have had a surprising start to their 2019-20 campaign. They have become a completely different team seemingly overnight. If you have been a fan of March Madness in recent years, then you would likely recognize many of these current Hornets.

The Hornets are currently 6-8 on the year. Which isn’t bad for a weaker eastern conference. They are a young and athletic team that has some learning to do, but I think the Hornets have enough for a late season playoff push.

Myles Garrett Finds a Way To Embarrass Cleveland In Thursday Night Win.

If you haven’t seen this brutal end to the Steelers vs. Browns Thursday night game then click the link below.

With everything the NFL has been doing to prevent head trauma in recent years, It’s hard to believe that Garret will play another snap this season. This was one of the most brutal fights the NFL has ever had on National Television. Myles apologized after the game, but I think it’s safe to say that the Steelers are going to be coming for blood when these two division rivals meet up again in Pittsburgh on 12/1/19.

QOTD; How should the NFL handle this? Who should be suspended? What if this happened to Brady or Rodgers.

Razorback Basketball Rolls Over the Mean Green.

Most Razorback fans remember the North Texas Mean Green because of the infamous fake fair-catch punt-return during last year’s football season. While Arkansas football has been anything but decent in recent years, Razorback basketball has been fairly consistent. However, consistent was not good enough. With New Coach Eric Musselman, Arkansas basketball hopes to exceed pre-season expectations which had them finishing 10th in the SEC.

Yesterday, Arkansas defeated North Texas 66-43 in showdown where Arkansas’s defense looked stellar. North Texas nearly knocked-off 25th ranked VCU earlier this year, So this match-up was better than it looked on paper. While Arkansas struggled on offense in the first half, the Razorback defense held their opponent to only 43 points for the second consecutive outing.

Guards Mason Jones and Isaiah Joe led Arkansas scoring once again with 16 points each. These two will surely carry the responsibility for most of the Razorback offense this year. Both Guards are knock-down shooters from beyond the arch and scoring machines in general. Other notable preformers from last night’s game include Adrio Bailey and Jimmy Whitt Jr..

I expect the hogs to roll past their next few opponents. However, the Razorbacks will travel to face a solid Georgia Tech team on the 25th. This game should tell us a lot about this Razorback team. Until then, I am sure the hogs will take it one game at a time and continue to grow as a team.

QOTD: Will the Razorbacks make it to the big dance come March?

Arkansas Basketball Looks Strong In Season Opener

Razorback basketball has a newfound hope in their first year head coach Eric Musselman. Last Season, Arkansas decided to part ways with long-time coach Mike Anderson. It was hard not to like Mike Anderson due to his ties with Nolan Richarson’s National Championship team of 1994, but the Razorbacks haven’t made a sweet sixteen appearance since 1996. Musselman was head coach at Nevada for 4 seasons where he had a all-time record of 110-34 for the wolf pack.

Last year’s star center for the Razorbacks Daniel Gafford was drafted in the second round to the Chicago Bulls. However, Arkansas played a considerable amount of underclassmen last season. After watching this year’s season opener against rice, it was appertain that these underclassmen benefited from last year’s exposure.

Arkansas gaurds Mason Jones and Isaiah Joe shot lights-out with a combined 56 points while both shooting over 50% from the field. While senior Adrio Bailey also played well with 8 points and 9 boards. With Daniel Gafford gone, Bailey will have to step-up and take charge in the paint this year.

The Razorbacks ended up crushing Rice 91-43 giving hog fans an optimistic outlook for the rest of the season. Arkansas’s next game is against Montana on 11/16, so we’ll just have to wait and see if Musselman can bring these hogs to the big dance.

QOTD: How do you think the Razorbacks will finish in the SEC this season?

Has Cam Newton Played His Last Game As a Carolina Panther?

As a Live-long Panther fan I knew this day would come, but I never would have imagined that the 2015 NFL MVP would play his last snap as a Panther at the age of 30. Cam was originally optimistic about returning from his week 2 foot injury this season, however it was reported this week that his Lisfranc injury was not responding to treatment. This is forced the Panthers to place the QB on the IR which ended his hopes of making a return this season.

While the Panthers have yet to make a decision on what to do with Cam; All signs point towards Cam not returning next year. In fact, the Panthers could save over $19 million on next year’s salary cap if they do release him. On top of that, back-up Kyle Allen has made some surprisingly good starts in Cam’s absence. Originally, I made the argument that Kyle Allen was merely a “game manager” and that this was still Cam Newton’s team. Now, I think that it might be time to cut ties with “SuperCam”.

I appreciate everything that Cam has done to turn around this organization, but it’s starting to seem like his best days are behind him (at least in Carolina). So the Panthers can wait another season and hope that he returns in good health, or they can trade/release him and start to focus on the future centered around Christian Mccaffrey.

QOTD; Where do you see Cam Newton next season?
